What's the best thing about your mom?
Amongst the many amazing things about my amazing mother, the one thing that I think she really is most amazing for is her ability to love completely unselfishly and unconditionally. Women say that once you become a mother, you learn the true meaning of being selfless. My mother is the perfect example of this. After a childhood of substantial fucked-up-ness, and an early adulthood of heartbreaking hardship, she really should have every reason to be selfish and demand self-fulfillment at last. She deserves to finally be selfish. But she doesn't, never has. She's always been there for others, and not just us kids. She doesn't complain about taking the last and leftover, or giving up what she desires for our family's well-being. And I know that sometimes this makes life unbearably rough for her. She has a huge, meek heart, and gives up everything she has coming to her just because she wants the people she loves to never go through anything uncomfortable or hard. Putting her family first and herself last is the most beautiful and most frustrating thing about her. I wish I could give my mother the world in return for the world she has given me.
